To the museum – by boat!

And why, interestingly, not by bus, tram or car? And all because in this amazing European city, passengers from the number of local residents and numerous groups of tourists carry only river buses. You can, of course, take advantage of the river taxi, but a trip on it will cost many times more! It is better to give preference to the historical mode of transport – a multimeter black boat. It is called the gondola and serves mainly foreign tourists. While walking on it, you can admire not only many sights of the city, but also float along the winding and even narrow streets, see bridges that seem to just float in the air. By just the name of the boat, you can guess that we are talking about Venice.

Yes, in this water city there are many quite unusual tourist routes, which include visits to art galleries and old museums. But often it is not necessary coming to Venice. Travelers are attracted by water excursions around the famous Grand Canal, because it is on its shores that world-famous palaces, cathedrals, as well as residential buildings are located, which to this day are of not only historical but also cultural value. The masterpieces of architecture were built exclusively on wooden multi-meter piles. The tree for these purposes was imported from Russia.

And what is all the same to do to those tourists who have already arrived in the city of canals on cars? It’s not worth worrying about because there are special parking islands in Venice, where any car owner can safely leave his car under safe guard.

The city remembers the heyday of the Roman Empire. It so happened that the inhabitants of its northern provinces settled on the numerous islands of the Adriatic Sea, fleeing from the raids of the barbarians. Venice received its name, thanks to the ancient Veneti tribe. His representatives lived here long before the Roman legions came to this land.

Today, without exaggeration, Venice can be called, if not the cultural capital, then certainly the cultural mecca of all of Europe. Famous exhibitions of works of modern (and ancient) art, as well as the Venice Carnival were and will be held here only. Great actors, filmmakers, venerable representatives of show business in the days of the film festival come here from all over the world. The city at this time simply does not know: it is transformed, living in a kind of lively and strange rhythm. There is no better time to travel to this Italian city. But we must understand that prices on the days of the film festival are noticeably creeping up only.

In addition to the festival, Venice and its guests are eagerly awaiting the annual carnival. He is undoubtedly, in originality and brilliance, not inferior to his illustrious brother from Rio de Janeiro and is an uncontrollably cheerful and mysterious holiday.

Fans of the Venice Carnival do not spare money for costumes. Luxury and the most expensive ones cost tens of thousands of euros. The 18th century is considered to be the time of the highest flowering of carnivals. But, as well as three hundred years ago, this celebration is unthinkable without a mask. The ancient Romans believed that only a mask is capable of erasing all boundaries between the poor and the rich. Albeit for a fairly short time.

Carnival is held only in February. For ten days, astonished spectators are entertained by numerous fakirs, musicians, jugglers, dancers, and actors who arrange spectacular costumed performances.

Who did not come to Venice for movies, carnivals and boat trips, in a hurry in the heart of the city – on Piazza San Marco. Since 828 St. Mark has been protecting the city and its inhabitants from all kinds of misfortunes. Many travelers are amazed: why from this year? But the fact is that it was then that the Venetians, outwitting the Turks, took the remains of the Evangelist Mark from Alexandria.

On the square is the famous bell tower. In 1609, astronomer Galileo Galilei mounted his first telescope on it and monitored celestial bodies.

The symbol of Venice, the winged lion, perched on a high column, vigilantly observes the cathedral of San Marco and the Doge’s Palace. Doge, elected for life, led the entire Republic of Venice. Outside the palace you can see a huge balcony, from which the doji addressed the people. Inside the building are the Collegiums, the doge throne and the halls of the so-called Grand Council. All these rooms amaze travelers with their decoration. Here are paintings by prominent Italian artists. The Palace also has the Armory, which still contains an exclusive collection of ancient combat weapons.

Tired of communicating with the beautiful, you can go to the beach and soak up the gentle warm sand, or visit the island of Lido, a kind of local Las Vegas, and try your luck. And what if you’re lucky?
